The USA Shooting Southwest Regional
Training Center at The Tucson Trap and Skeet Club has been named as the site for
The 2012 World Cup Shotgun Competition. This event
could bring in as many as 400 athletes from over 30 countries from around the
world for the last major competition before the 2012 Olympics in London. This event
has the possibility of being held in Tucson once every three years and could
bring in over 2,000 people to Tucson for the weeklong event and would give the
Tucson economy a much needed source of revenue. The Tucson
Trap and Skeet Club and USA Shooting (The National Governing Body for the
Olympic Shooting Sports) are very excited to host this event, but we will need
the help of everyone in Tucson. We will
need Host Hotels, Shuttle Services, Food
and Equipment Vendors along with myriad of other services, So as you can see
this event will benefit not only all of Tucson, but also much of the State of
Arizona with increased tourism. The
United States National Shooting Team has also expressed interest in training in
Tucson during the winter months because the weather at The Olympic Training
Center in Colorado Springs Colorado is usually too severe to allow for training
during this time
